Peter Hanson maintained his challenge for a European Ryder Cup spot as the Swede extended his lead to four shots at the Czech Open.

After a slow start, Hanson hit four birdies in the final six holes to card a five-under 67 and give himself a four-shot cushion going into the final day at the Prosper Golf Resort.

His biggest challenge came from Spain's Miguel Angel Jimenez, who may also be the man to challenge Hanson for a place in Colin Montgomerie's team at Celtic Manor. Jimenez stormed up the leaderboard with a flawless round of five-under to move up to eight-under-par, four shots off the pace.

If Sunday's final standings reflect the current leaderboard, it is likely to give European captain Montgomerie a selection headache, with outsider Simon Dyson looking strong on eight-under. A single bogey was the only blemish on the Englishman's card, as he maintained his challenge for his first title of the season.

Stephen Gallacher stayed in contention with a solid 68 to move to six-under-par. The in-form Scot fired three straight birdies on a flawless front nine as he looked to maintain his challenge. He is level on six-under with England's Gary Boyd, who put a bogey on his opening hole behind him with an otherwise bogey-free round of four-under.
