Colin Montgomerie has admitted he would love to captain Europe in the 2014 Ryder Cup.

The Scot was adamant he would never captain the team again after leading Europe to victory at Celtic Manor last year, but with the 2014 edition taking place at Gleneagles, it appears Montgomerie has had a change of heart.

Jose Maria Olazabal was named as captain to lead Europe's defence at Medinah next year, but with the biennial competition returning to Montgomerie's stomping ground, he admits he would jump at the chance to resume the captaincy.

"If asked again, I would have to accept," Montgomerie said in The Times. "But they would have to approach me, I wouldn't be approaching them."

Hosting the Ryder Cup for the first time boosted the Welsh economy by more than £82 million, it was revealed this week.
