Scots make two changes for Ireland clash

Scotland coach Vern Cotter has made two changes to the starting XV to face Ireland on Saturday, following their loss to England at Twickenham last weekend.

Adam Ashe is promoted from the bench to the back row in place of blindside flanker Rob Harley, while Ryan Grant supplants Alasdair Dickinson in the front row.

It will also be an historic occasion for prop Euan Murray, who will overtake Allan Jacobsen's Scotland record for appearances by a prop forward, claiming his 66th cap.

The backs are unchanged from the 25-13 defeat to England, Scotland's fourth successive defeat in this year's Six Nations. Defeat to Ireland on Saturday would leave them with the wooden spoon, regardless of Italy's result against Wales earlier in the day.

Coach Cotter said: "There is a strong culture in this group. Players want to do well and set the standards high.

"We've played with a huge amount of spirit and courage, are putting teams under pressure and are scoring tries, which is encouraging, but we want to go one better this Saturday.

"Both ourselves and Ireland are hugely motivated for this game. Make no mistake, they are coming to Edinburgh believing they can win the title, while we will be going out there desperate to throw everything at our last match to win the game and repay the support of our fans.

"It's time to put our bodies on the line and once again give everything, in this one, last, 80-minute push."
