Wasps fly-half Jimmy Gopperth to face RFU hearing over Mathew Tait incident

Wasps fly-half Jimmy Gopperth has been charged by the RFU with striking Mathew Tait during his side's defeat to Leicester on Sunday.

Gopperth was sin-binned for the infringement at the time but will now appear before an RFU disciplinary panel and could face a spell on the sidelines.

Television replays appeared to show the New Zealander punch Tait in the side of the head.

The hearing will take place in Coventry on Tuesday night, and will be chaired by William Harbage QC.
