Scotland fly-half Finn Russell has signed a new deal with the Glasgow Warriors and Scottish Rugby that will keep him at Scotstoun until at least May 2018.

Russell was one of his country's standout performers at the Rugby World Cup, playing all-but one of Scotland's games and scoring tries in the wins over Japan and the U.S.

The playmaker, who graduated from the Warriors academy, has made 32 first-team appearances since making his senior debut in 2013 and was an integral member of the team that won the Pro12 title last season.

"I've really enjoyed the last couple of years and I'm very happy to have signed a new long-term contract with the Warriors," Russell told the Warriors website.

"We have a really competitive squad and I'm continually learning from the coaches and the players around me.

"It was an easy decision to stay and I'm looking forward to the next three years in Glasgow."

"It's great news that Finn (Russell) has committed his future to the club," Warriors head coach Gregor Townsend said.

"Everyone associated with the club will be thrilled that Finn is staying at Scotstoun for the next few years."

The news of Finn's contract extension comes on the same day that Glasgow also announced a new three-year, six-figure sponsorship deal with Scottish Power.
