France have called in Clement Poitrenaud to replace Maxime Medard ahead of their match with Ireland at the weekend. Medard sustained a knee injury against Scotland during their 23-17 triumph on Sunday. And Philippe Saint-Andre has moved quickly to replace the Toulouse man with his colleague. Saint-Andre said: "We don't have a lot of fullbacks in the squad. We chose Clement Poitrenaud even though we had one or two other options." Alexis Palisson was one potential option for Saint-Andre, but was overlooked due to a lack of game time in the position with his club. The coach said: "[Palisson] does not play full-back with Toulon. We do not need a winger who can play full-back but a real number 15." Medard's exclusion is the only change to the French squad for the re-arranged match with Ireland. The match was originally set to be played on February 4 but was postponed minutes before kick-off. Saint-Andre will confirm his match day 22 on Tuesday. Squad: Forwards: David Attoub, Vincent Debaty, Nicolas Mas, Jean-Baptiste Poux, William Servat, Dimitri Szarzewski, Pascal Pape, Yoann Maestri, Lionel Nallet, Julien Bonnaire, Thierry Dusautoir (captain), Louis Picamoles, Imanol Harinordoquy Backs: Morgan Parra, Julien Dupuy, François Trinh-Duc, Lionel Beauxis, Aurelien Rougerie, Maxime Mermoz, Wesley Fofana, Vincent Clerc, Julien Malzieu, Clément Poitrenaud © ESPN Sports Media Ltd.
