Australia's hopes of recording a Grand Slam of the home unions on their tour of Great Britain and Ireland were dashed by Brian O'Driscoll's late try in Dublin last weekend.

As a result, the Wallabies will no doubt be determined to put the frustration of their 20-20 draw against the Irish behind them by beating Scotland in Edinburgh this evening.

Australia boss Robbie Deans is certainly taking the game very seriously. David Pocock may have been rested after his heroics against Ireland - veteran flanker George Smith will start in his place - but his omission is the only change the Kiwi coach has made to his starting line-up.

Scotland boss Andy Robinson, meanwhile, has kept faith with the same side which claimed a 23-10 victory over Fiji last weekend in what was the Englishman's first game at the helm.

The Wallabies have won their last 16 games against theScots but there is a real sense of optimism at Murrayfield, so are we about to see a major shock? We're about to find out because kick-off is just moments away.......

Scotland claim the lineout and scrum-half Chris Cusiter uses the wind well to clear to halfway.

Johnnie Beattie is guilty of hauling down a Wallaby jumper at a lineout and Giteau punishes his needless indiscretion, splitting the sticks with a 35-metre penalty to give the visitors the lead.

Too many turnovers from the Scots at the minute; they've just lost a lineout on their own throw. If they don't sort this out, it'll only be a matter of time before the Wallabies score again.

It's a penalty for Scotland inside their own half after the Aussie set-piece falters once more. However, Godman criminally fails to find touch. What a missed opportunity for the Scots to get into the Aussie 22 for the first time.

Scotland had been enjoying an excellent spell of possession for the past few minutes, playing patient, disciplined rugby. However, the Aussies soaked up the pressure before eventually pilfering the ball at the breakdown, evoking memories of last week's clash with Ireland.

Disaster for Scotland! Cusiter injured himself in making that try-saving challenge and has been forced off. With his co-captain having already been ruled out of the game with an ankle injury, it's Rory Lawson who comes on in Cusiter's place.

The word from the Scotland dressing room is that Cusiter has suffered a suspected concussion. Ali Kellock has assumed the captain's armband in his absence.

It's all gone a little bit scrappy at the minute, though the heavy hits haven't let up. The conditions aren't helping, of course, but the ball is currently spending far too much time in the air.

Those in attendance at Murrayfield are currently rubbing their eyes in disbelief because Matt Giteau has just missed a penalty from just 20 metres out. It was slightly to the right of the posts but that was a shocking miss from the Wallabies No.10.

The whistle blows and it's half-time at Murrayfield. Australia have dominated both possession and territory but find themselves walking off level at the interval. The Wallabies only have themselves to blame. Giteau has squandered six easy points while Moore butchered a gilt-edged try-scoring opportunity. Credit to the Scots, though, for hanging in there and maintaining an incredible rearguard effort.

Jacobsen levels Giteau with a high tackle to hand the Aussies an immediate opportunity to reclaim the lead. Giteau steps up to take the kick but he drags the ball to the left and another three points go begging for the Aussies.

Australia force a turnover after absolutely destroying Scotland in the scrum. However, Kepu, who really made his presence felt in that set-piece, knocks on deep in Scottish territory.

Australia batter away at the Scottish line but lose the ball on the floor and the hosts are able to clear. Heroic defensive work from the Scots.

Godman fails to convert the penalty, though, and we remain locked at three points apiece. Still, the Scots - and indeed the crowed - have been lifted by that spell of play.

Another offence from the Wallabies at the maul. Godman, safe in the knowledge that the Scots have the advantage, tries a long-range drop goal attempt but it's charged down. Back he comes, though, for the penalty attempt and he nails it - albeit with the aid of a post - to put the Scots ahead.

Australia have rediscovered their composure and are looking menacing with ball in hand once more. However, the Scots continue to look utterly unruffled in the face of almost incessant Wallaby pressure.

Another staggering show of profligacy from the Wallabies! With the Scottish defence having been stretched to breaking point, Cooper explodes on to the ball in midfield. He has two men outside him and opts for the skipped passed out to Mitchell, who jinks over in the corner. However, Cooper's pass forward and the Aussies cannot believe it. Another great try-scoring chance has been squandered.

Scotland's scrum holds up well and Lawson clears superbly to touch to relieve the pressure.

The Aussies move it wide again but Giteau turns the ball over with a horribly inaccurate pass. Lawson clears to touch and, in a huge boost for the Scots, the ball actually came off an Australian hand, meaning it will be Scotland lineout on halfway.

The Scotland forwards drive their way deep into Australian territory. Paterson drops back into the pocket before dissecting the uprights with a sweetly-struck drop goal. Australia now need a converted try to deny the Scots a famous, famous win.

Some nimble footwork from O'Connor has taken Australia to within three metres of the Scottish line. The Wallaby forwards are now taking it in turns to have a go. Are the Wallabies about to snatch this at the death?

The Aussies are over. Scotland appeared to have done enough when an isolated Horwill was taken down. But the Wallabies were quickly on the scene and ball was quickly worked back to Giteau, who put Cross over from just three metres out. However, Giteau misses the subsequent conversion attempt and Murrayfield erupts. Scotland have beaten Australia for the first time in 27 years. Given the amount of possession the Aussies had, they should, of course, have won that game. However, it's hard to say that the Scots don't deserve the win for what was a quite remarkable defensive display.
