Bath have confirmed the signing of Hurricanes tight-head prop Anthony Perenise on a three-year contract.

The Samoan international will arrive at the Recreation Ground after this year's World Cup and director of rugby Sir Ian McGeechan believes that Perenise will prove a valuable addition to his squad.

"Anthony is an experienced prop, who is not only a very powerful and technically accurate scrummager, but he is also incredibly mobile around the pitch, which will make him a very big threat for opposing teams," he said.

"He is a good character, who will fit in well within the rest of the squad, and we look forward to welcoming him here at Bath."

Meanwhile, Perenise, who has been capped seven times by his country, is looking forward to the challenge of trying to prove himself in the Aviva Premiership.

"I am very excited to be joining such a prestigious club as Bath," he said. "It has always been an ambition of mine to play northern hemisphere rugby, and Bath are a club really going places, and I want to be part of that."
