The Scarlets have suffered a blow ahead of their clash with Munster after star winger George North failed a late fitness test.

The 19-year-old has failed to recover from a dead leg and is not successful in making the starting line-up for the clash at Thomond Park on Sunday. Iestyn Thomas also misses out on selection due to illness. And Nigel Davies has opted to move Rhys Priestland to fullback to accommodate Stephen Jones at fly-half. Explaining the decision, Davies said: "This is a vital game for us in Europe and we must get our best players on the field.

"The team knows that - Rhys is a key Scarlets No.10, he knows that, however in support of the best line-up and getting our strongest team on the park he will support his colleagues and will be a strong option for us at full-back."

Their opponents Munster, who are without Peter O'Mahony, have named Keith Earls in their XV for the match with the Ireland international replacing Will Chambers. Denis Leamy starts in place of O'Mahony while Donncha O'Callaghan is preferred at lock to Donncha Ryan.

Elsewhere in Pool 1, Northampton Saints have retained Stephen Myler at fly-half for their clash with Castres. Jon Clarke and James Downey are reunited in the centres with Alex Waller preferred to Soane Tonga'uiha at loose-head.
