Edinburgh coach Michael Bradley heaped praise on fly-half Phil Godman after he came off the bench to clinch a 27-24 victory at Racing Metro with a late drop goal. Godman marked his return to the Heineken Cup after injury in style by clinching a last-minute victory which keeps Edinburgh at the helm on Pool 2. Bradley admitted that next weekend's tie against London Irish would be a big day for the club but praised his players for their efforts in Paris - with Godman in for particular plaudits. "We got lucky at the end, we held our composure and fell over the line with Phil's drop goal," he said. "And credit to him, he's put in all the hard yards in training in the last six months to get back and come on and win a game like that. Credit has to go to both set of players, it was a good open game of rugby, particularly in that second half. "Racing really tore into us at the start of that period and we had to weather the storm, but we got there in the end. It was a really different game to that last match against them and it was tighter in a lot of areas. But we knew that the side that could hold onto the ball would get an opportunity in the last 10 minutes and that's what happened. Racing got ahead, we got back level with a penalty from Greg Laidlaw and then the drop goal which was perfect timing for us." Edinburgh's rivals for a first quarter-final spot in eight years, Cardiff Blues, travel to London Irish tomorrow and will need a victory on the road to keep the pressure on Bradley's side. The former Connacht coach though reckons his side now have the advantage going into Round 6. "We do have the advantage as we are playing at home and there is no need to travel," he added. "I think our fans will be excited about it and the players will and should be excited as well. It could be a fantastic day next weekend, but we have to remember when you go across that line it's still just a game and we have to do the basics right and we didn't do them all right tonight." © ESPN Sports Media Ltd.
