Leinster veteran Brian O'Driscoll has revealed that it is the lure of more medals that continues to power his enviable career.

The 33-year-old was a key figure in his side's 42-14 victory over Ulster in the Heineken Cup finale at Twickenham on Saturday and offered a reminder of his game-changing brilliance with a sublime offload in the build up to his side's crucial second try.

The win set the seal on their third European crown in four years, and the first unbeaten run to the title since Brive claimed the 1996-97 glory, but O'Driscoll wasted little time in setting his sights on more success. Asked to pinpoint what keeps driving him having racked up 13 years in provincial colours, he told reporters: "It's medals. Trophies. It is. It's about being selfish and wanting more now."

O'Driscoll also offered a chilling insight into the Leinster changing room for those hoping to usurp them next season. "Even in the dressing-room there, and it wasn't as tense going into the last 10 minutes for us, there was still great elation but different to the other two.

"People were saying it tongue in cheek, 'can you do three-in-a-row'. The pleasure of being involved with this group of players is that I know how hungry they are and I know how they will push one another. I would imagine we would definitely try to defend the title as much as we did this year."

Leinster have the chance to add further gloss to an outstanding season when they tackle the Ospreys in the RaboDirect PRO12 final in Dublin next weekend and O'Driscoll hopes that a double success can also inspire great things from Ireland when they tackle New Zealand in a three-Test series next month.

"Having two provinces in the Heineken Cup final is great," said O'Driscoll. "And we have to use that confidence and channel it in the best possible way for the tour down in New Zealand.

"We have one more game to focus on with Leinster, and then we will be in camp and switched on to the job of travelling down there and hopefully getting our first win against New Zealand."
