Sale Sharks expect Danny Cipriani to stay with them next season despite the fly-half reportedly having a break clause in his contract with the club.

Cipriani was linked to Toulon a year ago but the appointment of Eddie Jones as England head coach in place of Stuart Lancaster has given him fresh hope of forcing his way back into the squad; he was dropped from the final World Cup party last year after making the initial selection.

"As far as we are concerned, he will be here next season," Steve Diamond, the Sale director of rugby, was quoted as saying by the Telegraph.

"He is happy here and we are more than happy with him. We have also been busy recruiting. We hope to bring in a number of internationals. Danny is an ambitious lad and we are an ambitious club.

"He has still got international ambitions and he can fulfil them here. Eddie has been to see one game and I am sure he has watched all the others on the database. We have got one or two here who will be hoping to be involved.

"I am sure Danny will be in consideration for the Six Nations. He has been playing really well. Even if the team has not been getting results, there have been a lot of good individual performances. I am sure Eddie will recognise that."
