Profile

Andrew Bishop made his Wales debut as a replacement during the second Test against South Africa in June 2008 having been a consistent performer for the Ospreys for the previous three years.

A Wales international at U18, U19 and U21 levels, Bishop won the Grand Slam with the U21s in 2005 before making his mark at regional level. After being carefully managed during the 2005-06 season, he made 30 appearances during the following campaign.

After making his first appearance for his country against the Springboks in the summer of 2008, he was then handed his first start later that year in the autumnal clash with Canada before featuring as a replacement against Australia a fortnight later.

Bishop impressed against the Wallabies and was included in the Wales squad for the 2009 Six Nations and made an appearance as a sub in the win over Scotland. He then started twice during the summer tour of North America before retaining his place in the squad - in spite of the return of all of Wales' Lions stars - for the November internationals.

Bishop featured twice as a replacement during the 2010 Six Nations, in the unfamiliar positions of fullback and fly-half, before firmly establishing himself as one of his country's top centres during the remainder of the year.

He was set to play a key role in Wales' 2011 Championship campaign but he suffered ankle ligament damage in the Ospreys' Magners League clash with Cardiff Blues on New Year's Eve and was ruled out of action for at least two months.
