Saracens face a crisis in the scrum-half department with Neil de Kock facing a lengthy spell on the sidelines.
England scrum-half Richard Wigglesworth is currently sidelined for the rest of the season with a knee injury and their former South African international de Kock now faces between eight and 12 weeks out with a fractured arm sustained in their 42-17 win over Treviso on November 13, 2011.
In the duos place, 19-year-old Ben Spencer has shone having joined from Cambridge on a short-term deal in August. And McCall lauded the youngster in the aftermath of their opening round defeat of Treviso in the Heineken Cup saying: "I was very impressed by Ben, who came here only three months ago from Cambridge Rugby Club on a training contract. It was initially to make up the numbers, but he is now on a contract beyond the end of this season and has just turned 19."
It remains to be seen whether McCall will stick by his guns and refrain from bringing in a short-term signing to cover the void left by Wigglesworth and de Kock as previously stated when the England international was sidelined.
