Exeter tie down coaches on new long-term deal

The Exeter Chiefs have tied down their coaching staff onto new three-year deals keeping them at Sandy Park until 2015.

The Chiefs are currently riding high in the Aviva Premiership lying in third and this follows their eighth place finish in their maiden season in England's top flight. And Exeter chief executive Tony Rowe was delighted to have secured head coach Rob Baxter, assistant coach Ali Hepher alongside team manager Robin Cowling, skills coach Ricky Pellow and academy coach Rob Gibson onto new deals.

"I'm so pleased that I've finished negotiating an extension on all their contractrs because I really wanted to keep them all," Rowe said. "It's a fantastic coaching team and, as you try to progress, the most difficult thing is to get hold of a good coaching team. But I've got one and I'm the first to acknowledge the effort they have put in.

"They were untested in the Premiership and, apart from Ali, who Rob recruited himself, I was instrumental in putting that group together. It's an awesome group and I consider it quite a coup to have kept them all."

And Rowe has also expressed his displeasure at the television scheduling which saw his side play their Amlin Challenge Cup clash with the Newport Gwent Dragons late on Sunday. "It makes me mad," Rowe said. "Who wants to watch rugby that late on a Sunday? I shall be voicing my views strongly when the next [TV] agreement is drawn up."
