Leicester Tigers boss Richard Cockerill is contemplating adding another back-row to the mix with Wessel Jooste currently on trial at the Aviva Premiership side.

Cockerill has brought in former Gloucester flanker Brett Deacon and London Irish back-rower Richard Thorpe in recent weeks and admits he is open to the idea of signing Jooste as well. They have the likes of Thomas Waldrom, Julian Salvi and Jordan Crane fit but have worries over the fitness of Tom Croft and Craig Newby.

Deacon, Thorpe and Crane started against Jersey last weekend but with Bourgoin in the midst of an uncertain time, their back-rower Jooste may well be added to the Tigers mix. "He's [Jooste] been on trial with us," Cockerill told BBC Radio Leicester. "But he's one who is sorting out whether he can get into the country from a visa and work permit point.

"He's very big, athletic and strong. He's played all across the back row for Bourgoin, and lock. He's certainly someone who if all of the pieces of the jigsaw fit into place could be a possibility."
