Former France fly-half David Skrela is reportedly set to confirm that he will move from Top 14 giants Clermont Auvergne to second division side Colomiers next season.

The 33-year-old, who won the last of his 23 Test caps at last year's Rugby World Cup, only joined Clermont last year having spent the three previous seasons at Toulouse but reports suggest he is poised to return to the club where he began his career.

Alain Carre, president of Colomiers, refused to confirm whether Skrela had signed with them but confirmed to AFP that "contacts had been made between the two parties".

Skrela, who steered Clermont to a 28-24 victory over Top 14 strugglers Bordeaux Begles in his latest outing last weekend and shared in their long-awaited Bouclier de Brennus success in 2011 but has seen his opportunities limited by the presence of first-choice playmaker Brock James.

Clermont are currently second in the Top 14 and well-placed to qualify for the Heineken Cup quarter-finals while Colomiers are currently languishing in 10th place in the ProD2.
