Aviva Premiership Top Try Scorers

  • 13 - Tom Varndell (Wasps)
  • 13 - Christian Wade (Wasps)
  • 9 - Jamie Elliott (Northampton Saints)
  • 8 - Danny Care (Harlequins)
  • 8 - Jonny May (Gloucester)
  • 8 - David Strettle (Saracens)
  • 7 - Adam Thompstone (Leicester Tigers)
  • 6 - Halani Aulika (London Irish)
  • 6 - Horatio Agulla (Bath)
  • 6 - Chris Ashton (Saracens)

Wasps wingers Tom Varndell and Christian Wade finished as joint-top try scorers after the end of the Aviva Premiership regular season.

Wade, who is expected to go on tour with England this summer, scored two tries in Wasps' 21-20 defeat to Sale Sharks on Saturday, ensuring he matched his team-mates' haul of 13 tries for the season. Therefore in Wasps' 22 matches in the Premiership this season, the deadly duo scored a combined total of 26 tries.

They were both four tries clear of the next leading try scorer - Northampton winger Jamie Elliott. The 20-year-old has twice bagged braces this season, against Bath and Sale Sharks, and scored a hat-trick against London Irish.

Harlequins scrum-half Danny Care, Saracens winger David Strettle and Gloucester winger Jonny May all finished with eight tries from the regular season and will hope to take that try-scoring form into the summer if, as expected, they all travel to Argentina with England.

Adam Thompstone enjoyed a strong debut season with Leicester Tigers with seven tries, while London Irish prop Halani Aulika finished alongside more recognised poachers, Saracens' Chris Ashton and Bath's Horatio Agulla.
