European rugby bosses expect to announce new dates for this weekend's postponed Champions and Challenge Cup fixtures within a week.

Five weekend fixtures were postponed after Friday night's terrors attacks in Paris, with only matches based in other European countries games going ahead.

Saturday's Champions Cup action of Oyonnax vs. Ulster, and Racing 92 vs. Glasgow Warriors, and the evening Challenge Cup match between Castres and Pau were called off, while Sunday's matches between Bordeaux and Clermont Auvergne, and Toulon and Bath, were also put on hold.

A statement from European Professional Club Rugby chairman Simon Halliday on the body's website said: "It simply would not have been appropriate in the tragic circumstances to have staged the five French-based games this weekend. We trust that the clubs and their fans who travelled abroad will understand why we took this decision in conjunction with the LNR.

"When France is in a period of national mourning, we are acutely aware that this is a particularly difficult time for everyone associated with the country, and we thank Toulouse, La Rochelle and Agen for their great sportsmanship.

"We are working to reschedule the five postponed matches in what is already a crowded rugby calendar, and we hope to be in a position to announce the new dates next week."
