NPC : Wellington's Afeaki recovering well

The athletic lock-cum-flanker was stetchered from the field during his side's surprise loss to Northland in the Westpac Trust Stadium on Sunday afternoon.

It was first feared that he had suffered a serious neck injury after he fell awkwardly after being tackled. A brace was fitted on the spot to ensure that no further damage was caused while he was carried from the field. It now seems that permanent damage has been avoided and that the neck srain that he suffered could have healed sufficiently for him to be considered for Wellington's home fixture against Taranaki on Saturday evening.
