WRU bails out regions with £660k loan
February 18, 2014
The Welsh Rugby Union has lent the four regions a total of £660,000 to help cover the deficit left by the block on Heineken Cup payments.
European Rugby Cup Ltd (ERC) - the body in charge of the Heineken Cup - previously said it was not releasing any participation payments until its next meeting which is believed to be on Wednesday.
The Aviva Premiership clubs are reportedly owed £1.57m and the WRU has given the regions an interest-free loan to help their cash flow.
