Leicester coach Richard Cockerill has told the Leicester Mercury that winning Saturday's Heineken Cup quarter-final in Clermont would be "one of the biggest victories the club has ever known".

Leicester travel to France as 6-1 outsiders to beat a team who have put together a remarkable 74-match unbeaten run at home. Cockerill said that record meant his side could approach the game knowing they have nothing to lose.

"It's a massive challenge and we are looking forward to going there," he told the newspaper. "We can set our marker down and, if we can go to a place like that and win, it would be one of the biggest victories the club has ever known, and I don't say that lightly because we have gone to some tough places and won in the past.

"For once, we can go and play and see where we get to. If we can go and beat Clermont after all of the sides that have been there and failed, it would be fantastic. There is no sense of expectation on us because nobody expects us to win.

"For us to be successful, we are going to have to be as good as we can be and they are going to have to be a little bit off their game."
