The organisers of the new European Rugby Champions Cup have targeted four to six commercial partners, according to reports.

The Daily Telegraph claims entertainment giants XIX, who look after the Beckhams, will be charged with growing the profile of the new tournament. The organisers of the Champions Cup have already closed in on a deal with Heineken to continue their sponsorship of European rugby but they are unlikely to get naming rights for the tournament.

As preparations for the new tournament intensify, European Professional Club Rugby - the body charged with running the three competitions - needs to appoint a new director general. According to the newspaper, Clermont CEO Jacques Pineau will assist the transition from European Rugby Cup Ltd, the body in charge of the Heineken Cup, to the EPCR.
