The six European club matches that were postponed due to the Paris attacks have been rescheduled for the second weekend in January.

Due to the fixture backlog caused by the Rugby World Cup, the organisers of European rugby had to shoehorn the postponed matches into an already packed schedule. The games will take place over the weekend of January 8-10 and therefore prior to round 5 of the Champions Cup and Challenge Cup.

That decision means three PRO12 matches will be played later in the season - Ulster Rugby v Newport Gwent Dragons, Zebre Rugby v Glasgow Warriors, Cardiff Blues v Munster Rugby - and Bath's match against Sale, due to be played on January 8, will also take place at a later date.

"Following the tragic events in Paris on November 13 and the postponement of the European matches which were due to be played in France that weekend, we have been working closely with the clubs and EPCR on the re-scheduling options," said Premiership Rugby CEO Mark McCafferty. "It's been extremely challenging as the start of our season was delayed due to Rugby World Cup and there were simply no spare weekends.

"However, Bath Rugby has been continually supportive and very flexible in helping re-arrange the Toulon game for the same weekend as the other postponed European matches. Equally, I would like to record our thanks to Sale Sharks for their strong support in facilitating this outcome. It further underlines the co-operation and solidarity shown by all European clubs against the background of the tragic circumstances."

Postponed matches to be rescheduled on 8-10 January 2016:

Champions Cup - Round 1: Oyonnax v Ulster Rugby, Racing 92 v Glasgow Warriors, Bordeaux-Bègles v ASM Clermont Auvergne, RC Toulon v Bath Rugby.

Round 2: Stade Francais Paris v Munster Rugby

Challenge Cup - Round 1: Pau v Castres Olympique
