The three year sposnsorship deal for the English Premiership with Zurich Financial Services was announced at a Twickenham press conference on Thursday. However the deal between the Rugby Football Union and English Rugby Partnership for funding for the clubs has yet to be signed.

A meeting was scheduled to take place this afternoon to thrash out the outstanding issues with promotion and relegation being the main sticking point, but already the clubs have not received two months worth of payments.

Howard Thomas Chief Executive of ERP said:

"The clubs should not suffer as a result of the late payments which amount to £300,000".

Announcing the new three year deal with Zurich, the firm's CEO Sandy Leitch said:

"This is a significant day in domestic rugby with not only the unveiling of the Zurich Premiership and Championship, but the announcement of several key initiatives which support Zurich's commitment to rugby"

Two cups will be awarded at the end of the season, one to the Premiership Champions and the other to the winner of the play-offs"

Neither Cup will be more significant than the other, and respective prize money has yet to decided.
