Kauto Star may determine Grands Crus' Gold Cup fate

Trainer David Pipe will wait on Kauto Star's fate before deciding whether to throw unbeaten novice Grands Crus into the Gold Cup at next week's Cheltenham Festival.
The seven-year-old is unbeaten over three starts this season, and has been entered into the novices' RSA Chase as well as the Festival's showpiece.
Paul Nicholls' Kauto Star was a major doubt last week after suffering a fall in schooling but is now rated as 95 per cent likely to run on Friday after coming through a gallop at Wincanton unscathed.
Pipe will consult with owners Roger Stanley and Yvonne Reynolds before making a final decision on Monday.
"We will make a decision on Monday. We will see how Kauto is - obviously he looked in fantastic form yesterday at Wincanton," Pipe told Channel 4's The Morning Line.
"It looks like he will be going for the Gold Cup which is great for racing, but maybe not so good for us. I shall speak with the owners over the weekend and decide on Monday."
