Class prevailed in the Winter Derby at Lingfield as Premio Loco gave weight all round to claim the Group Three prize.

George Baker sat closer than normal on Premio Loco and it paid off as he was in the right place to swoop off a slow place.

In stark contrast, the favourite Cai Shen struggled to get a run and had to come widest of all into the straight.

Cai Shen ran on well once in the clear, but could not reel in Chris Wall's evergreen eight-year-old.

Richard Hannon plundered the Spring Cup at Lingfield as Gusto proved much too good for his rivals in the Listed contest.

Ryan Moore took advantage of his low draw, jumping the 9/4f out smartly, and he made all and Gusto had too much class for the fast-finishing Kenny Powers and Bannock.

"He makes it easy for you, you can put him where you want, and he moves well on this surface," Moore said of Gusto. "He might get a little further, but I would say seven furlongs is spot on."

Multiple Group One winner Borderlescott failed to land a blow on his first start of the season, as Fratellino gor the better of a driving finish with Spirit Quartz to take the Hever Sprint Stakes in the hands of Martin Harley.

Ikorodu Road paid a handsome compliment to Grand National fancy Junior when forging clear to win the Ultima Business Solutions Handicap Chase at Newbury.

Ikorodu Road beat David Pipe's Junior by a whisker last time and he backed that up when staying well to score. Ouzbeck ran on from a mile back to take second, while Mon Parrain travelled supremely well for Ruby Walsh but once again he failed to see out his race.

Tante Sissi showed a high degree of class to take the EBF Ultima Business Solutions Mares' 'National Hunt' Novices' Hurdle Finale.

The Alan King yard had a number of near misses at the Cheltenham Festival, so it was a welcome change of fortune as Tante Sissi stayed on gamely after travelling with real elan.

She drifted across the track and hampered runner-up Heather Royal, but she was always doing enough for Robert Thornton.
