Camelot faces eight in Derby

Camelot will be faced with eight opponents when he bids to back up his 2000 Guineas win in the Derby on Saturday.

Aidan O'Brien's charge is unbeaten in three outings, having shown class and courage in equal measure to come from well back to land the 2000 Guineas. Camelot will be joined on the journey over from Ballydoyle by stablemate Astrology, an 11-length winner of the Dee Stakes at Chester last time out.

The chief market rival to Camelot is Bonfire, who took the Dante Stakes at York. Lingfield Trial hero Main Sequence stands his ground, while Chester Vase winner Mickdaam is a first Derby runner for Richard Fahey.

Hayley Turner rides Cavaleiro for Marcus Tregoning. Minimise Risk, Rugged Cross and Thought Worthy complete the field.
