Bated Breath, the long-standing favourite for the Darley July Cup, will miss Saturday's race due conditions at Newmarket.

With 18 millimetres of rain falling overnight, trainer Roger Charlton made the decision to withdraw the five-year-old, who finished second to Dream Ahead last year.

Jockey James Doyle will now switch to stablemate Genki, a 40-1 outsider.

Libranno and Krypton Factor will also miss the race, while Society Rock has been installed as the new favourite for the six furlong race.

Despite the ground being soft to heavy, Strong Suit has not been scared off by the conditions.

"It has rained all night in HQ but we are going to let Strong Suit take his chance," his owner's racing manager David Redvers posted on Twitter. "He's well and needs to run and fortune favours the brave!"
