The John Gosden-William Buick bandwagon rolled on as Elusive Kate bagged the Group One Prix Rothschild at Deauville.

Having finished second on her seasonal bow in the Falmouth Stakes at Newmarket, Elusive Kate carried the momentum forward as she made all the running to hand trainer and jockey their fifth Group One win of the season.

Buick set a steady pace and after kicking on well over a furlong fom home, she had too much in the tank for the staying on Golden Lilac who was much improved from her Falmouth disappointment but was still a length and a quarter behind.

Mashoora plugged on for third but last season's Coronation and Jacques le Marois winner Immortal Verse ran a lacklustre race on her seasonal bow.

Earlier on the card, Mark Johnston's Baileys Jubilee came up just short against Mazameer in the Prix Cabourg.
