Cirrus Des Aigles teed himself up for a crack at Frankel in the Champion Stakes with a brilliant win in the Prix Dollar.

The six-year-old had not been seen since being disqualified in the Prix D'Ispahan in May. With doubts about the six-year-old's fitness, Cirrus Des Aigles was allowed to go off a shade of odds against.

It proved to be a steal for punters as Cirrus Des Aigles cruised through the race before powering clear for a facile success.

Olivier Peslier was content to allow Cirrus Des Aigles to sit in fourth in the early stages, before gradually easing his mount into a challenging position.

With the minimum of fuss, Cirrus Des Aigles took up the running over two furlongs from home and in a matter of strides the race was over as a contest.

Cirrus Des Aigles sauntered clear in effortless fashion to win by a wide margin in very soft ground. Given Cirrus Des Aigles is generally better for a run, he will likely be spot on for a crack at Frankel at Ascot in a fortnight.

Trainer Corine Barande-Barbe said: "It's not very often that you get to see exactly what you want, but that is what happened today. I think that was a very good workout for Ascot and the Champion Stakes."

Asked about plans beyond Ascot, Barande-Barbe said with a smile: "We'll see how far he wins there first!"

Mick Channon's Bungle Inthejungle dispelled fears over his suitability to handle the soft ground by sticking on gamely to deny Garswood in a driving finish to the Cornwallis Stakes at Ascot.

Bungle Inthejungle was there to be shot at in the Group Three contest, but he repelled all rivals under Martin Harley.

James Doyle found a willing partner, as Mince stuck on well despite looking ill at ease on the soft ground to beat Soul in the Bengough Stakes.

Hawaafez looks a stayer of some potential after ploughing through the mud to make all the running in the Cumberland Lodge Stakes. The only filly in the race, Hawaafez travelled well for Johnny Murtagh and was not hard pressed to take the Group Three contest for trainer Marcus Tregoning.

Paul Hanagan could have ridden Hawaafez but he elected to go to Newmarket for the ride on Ghurair and it paid off as John Gosden's charge showed great battling qualities to repel Hava Gold in the 500,000 Tattersalls Millions 2yo Trophy.

At Gowran Park, Sizing Europe made a fine return to action from a smooth success in the PWC Champion Chase. The former Champion Chase winner travelled well in behind for much of the race before taking charge at the second last and staying on well for a comfortable win from Forpadydeplasterer.
