Tony McCoy has confirmed his intention to ride at Ascot on Saturday despite suffering a nasty facial injury at Wetherby on Friday.

The 17-time champion jockey was taken to hospital in York after he was unseated from Mr Watson shortly before the Novices' Hurdle.

He later confirmed that he had broken teeth in the incident but is confident he will be fit to ride on Saturday.

"I feel fine," McCoy said in the Daily Telegraph. "There was no structural damage, it was only skin deep.

"I may not look very pretty for a day or two, but I am planning to ride at Ascot provided, of course, I feel fine in the morning."

McCoy added on Twitter: "My injury is very superficial just broke a few teeth and needed some stitches will be back to work tomorrow."
