Mania to remain in hospital
Grand National winning jockey Ryan Mania is to remain in hospital for a second night after suffering a fall at Hexham on Sunday.
The 23-year-old, who rode 66/1 Auroras Encore to a shock victory on Saturday at Aintree, was airlifted to hospital following a heavy fall from Stagecoach Jasper at the fifth hurdle in the race staged at 3.10pm.
It was confirmed the Scot had suffered neck and back injuries, and on Sunday he tweeted from his recovery bed: "Thanks so much for all the messages. I'm grand. Staying in hospital to get another scan tomorrow [on Monday] then should be home."
However, his agent Bruce Jeffrey revealed he will remain in hospital, saying: "If the scan is clear and all goes well, he could be riding again by next weekend."
If given the green light to be released from hospital provided the results of the scan are all-clear, Mania will be in contention to take part in the Scottish National being held at Ayr on April 20.
