Frankie Dettori is out for the rest of the season after he fractured his right ankle shortly before a race at Nottingham.

Dettori was stretchered off the track after falling from Eland Ally prior to the start of a handicap race on Wednesday and was unable to put any weight on his right leg when attempting to get up. He was returned to the course's medical room in a wheelchair.

The Italian was due to ride the well-backed Treve in the Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe at Longchamp on Sunday, which takes place at the same course Dettori tested positive for cocaine in 2012.

In September, Dettori bagged his first Group One winner since returning from his drugs ban when riding Treve to victory in the Qatar Prix Vermeille, also at Longchamp.
