Godolphin stable confirm banned horses to return
Former St Leger winner Encke will be prepared for racing in European as the Godolophin stable confirmed some of the horses banned in the fallout of the Mahmood Al Zarooni doping scandal are set to return to the track.
In April, Al Zarooni was handed an eight-year suspension from training by the British Horseracing Authority after 22 horses under his care tested positive for banned anabolic steroids. The horses were suspended from running between April and October last year.
Encke is expected to go back into training with Charlie Appleby in Newmarket, while Steeler and Certify could both run at the 2014 Dubai World Cup Carnival in Meydan.
"We decided recently to continue with some of the horses who did not race last year," Godolphin racing manager Simon Crisford told their official website.
"They include current entries Artigiano and Steeler plus Certify, who will be aimed at the top fillies' contests during the [Dubai World Cup] Carnival. Encke is also in training and will go for races in Europe later in the year."
