Dettori to return at Lingfield following injury lay-off
Frankie Dettori is set to make a return to racing at Lingfield Park on Wednesday after a three-and-a-half month injury lay-off.
Dettori has not ridden since he suffered a fractured ankle in a fall going down to the start of a race at Nottingham on October 2.
That injury ruled him out of riding eventual winner Treve in the Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe at Longchamp on October 6; Treve is the horse which provided the Italian with his first Grade One winner since returning from his sixth-month drugs ban in September last year.
Dettori has been booked to ride Gone With the Wind - trained by Jeremy Noseda - in a six furlong maiden stakes at the Surrey course before he is expected to fly out for the Dubai Racing Carnival at Meydan on Thursday, according to his agent Ray Cochrane.
"As far as I know he rides that one. It's early days. I've asked for a couple of others, so we'll see," Cochrane told attheraces.com.
"He's definitely back on Wednesday, then he's going to Dubai on Thursday to ride Mshawish for Mikel Delzangles. He's a nice horse. He was fourth in the St James's Palace and won a listed race at Deauville. He's looking forward to getting back and has been riding out."
