Grand National winning jockey Timmy Murphy is out of the Cheltenham Festival in March because of a shoulder injury.

Murphy dislocated his shoulder for a second time in the space of three months at the beginning of the year. He first suffered the injury when he was involved in an incident in the weighing room with Dominic Elsworth in Newbury.

Murphy, who triumphed at the 2008 Grand National with Comply or Die, is set to have surgery in order for the injury to fully recover.

"The only light at end of the tunnel is that he is going to have an operation on the shoulder," Murphy's agent Chris Broad said.

"I spoke to him on Monday and it [the shoulder] is fine, but he needs to address the problem once and for all. That's going to rule him out of Cheltenham, unfortunately, but he needs to get it right."
