Grand National winning former jockey fined £1500
Two-time Grand National winning former jockey Carl Llewellyn has been fined £1,500 by the British Horseracing Authority after he admitted bringing the sport into disrepute.
Ex-ider Llewellyn, who is now assistant trainer to Nigel Twiston-Davis, reportedly made a racist comment during a preview event at the Hollow Bottom pub in Gloucestershire, shortly before this year's Cheltenham Festival.
He had faced a punishment ranging from a £1,000 fine to a maximum three-year ban from the sport. His original hearing on April 3 was postponed in order to allow his solicitor more time to prepare his defence.
Llewellyn admitted the breach of rules at a BHA hearing on Thursday morning and the body fined him for "conduct prejudicial to horse racing."
