Nico Rosberg said the most annoying part of his Hungarian Grand Prix was the last lap, when he failed to make a successful overtaking move on Mercedes team-mate Lewis Hamilton.

Rosberg started on pole position but finished fourth after losing time under the first safety car period and then struggling to fight back on a three-stop strategy. Rosberg's progress was arguably hindered when team-mate Hamilton ignored team orders to let him past, but he was not willing to discuss the incident with the media until he had sat down with his team.

Instead he said he was most annoyed by his failed attempts to pass Hamilton when they were racing for third place in the final few laps.

"I didn't see anybody for a while and then just caught them on the last two laps, but unfortunately not enough to get by," he said. "That's what's most annoying for me now because I had the chance and I wasn't able to use it, but of course it was very difficult. That was a pity.

"It was a very up and down race and it's always tricky in those conditions, and I had some things that went against me today. I'm not complaining but that was the case today, especially with the safety car and the strategy wasn't the best today in the end."

Asked specifically about the Lewis incident, he said: "We have to discuss that internally, it would not make sense to speak about that now. I don't want to speak theoretically about that situation or 'what if' and what people were thinking. It's better to discuss that in the team."

Rosberg still has an 11 point lead in the drivers' standings and said he would come back from the summer break ready to do battle again.

"It was a very difficult race today and some things went against me. I didn't quite make it happen today, but together with my team we just have to do better next time. Still, I have the lead in the championship and that's important and I have some time now to rethink everything and then full attack again for the next race.

"At the moment I'm still very annoyed because I'm in the last lap at the moment, so it will take me a bit of time but then I'll be okay for the holiday."
