New Zealand extended their remarkable winning run at the IRB Junior World Championship with a 92-0 thrashing of Wales at the Stadio Mario Battaglini in Rovigo.

The Baby Blacks ran in 14 tries to make it 17 straight wins in the competition, dating back to the inaugural tournament in 2008, and as a result they remain on top of Pool A and on course for a fourth straight title. Flanker Sam Cane, winger Charles Piutau and centre Lima Sopoaga led the way with two tries each in a clinical display from the defending champions.

Cane opened the scoring with less than a minute on the clock and a further six tries would follow in the first half as New Zealand punished every mistake of a Wales side that had beaten Argentina in their opening clash. There was no let up and Piutau crossed for the second five minutes later that was converted by Gareth Anscombe who would add nine more.

The third try was far too easy, with Piutau strolling through the Welsh defence to put Cane away and the bonus point was secured just before the 20 minute mark with Sopoaga opening his account. Captain and No 8 Luke Whitelock, brother of All Blacks Sam and George scored their fifth try under the posts just before the half hour mark but there was still time for lock Steven Luatua Welsh-born centre Rhys Llewellyn to score before the break.

Sopoaga had his second shortly after the re-start before scrum-half TJ Perenara put his name on the scoresheet. Fullback Beauden Barrett was the next to score and Piutau would soon add to the humiliation. A yellow card for Wales flanker Ed Siggery made matters worse but there was more woe to come with tries for Brad Shields and replacements Glen Robertson and Brad Weber.

England made it two wins from two but were made to work hard by a determined Scotland side before powering away for a 39-18 victory in the Pool C clash. Winger Christian Wade scored a hat-trick while fellow speedster Marland Yarde and centre Ryan Mills were also among the try scorers, Fly-half Owen Farrell kept the scoreboard ticking along nicely, scoring 10 points with the boot, while his replacement George Ford scored four.

Tries from Yarde and Wade put England in control in the opening period with the Scots getting on the scoreboard thanks to the boot of fly-half Duncan Weir. The Scots closed the gap after the break with a try from scrum-half Sean Kennedy and things could have got worse for England but for a try-saving tackle from replacement No.10 George Ford on his opposite number.

Ford was then instrumental in England's third try of the game, setting Mills to score, but Scotland hit straight back, scoring a try of their own through two minutes later through wing Kerr Gossman. With seven points in it at 25-18, Ford missed a kickable penalty before Wade grabbed his second try and he would another before the end to add some gloss to the result.

Elsewhere, Australia made it back-to-back wins with a comfortable 50-25 victory against Fiji in their Pool B match and South Africa also maintained their unbeaten run with a 42-26 victory over Pool C rivals Ireland. Hosts Italy remain bottom of Pool A following their second successive defeat - a 27-3 loss to Argentina - and France kept the pressure on Australia with a 27-14 win against Tonga.
