Ireland have called up Paddy Wallace as injury cover for Jonathan Sexton ahead of their Six Nations clash with France at the Stade de France on Saturday.

Sexton felt a tweak in thigh muscle following a kicking session on Friday afternoon. He was assessed by the medical team and it was decided to call up Wallace, who was due to play for Ulster against the Dragons on Friday night.

Ireland's first-choice fly-half has yet to be ruled out of the match and will be monitored by medical staff over the next 24 hours before a decision is made on the match 22.

Should Sexton fail to recover from the injury, Munster fly-half Ronan O'Gara is likely to step into the starting XV with Wallace coming on to the bench in Paris.
