London Irish have confirmed that Glenn Delaney has been appointed as the club's new forwards coach ahead of next season.

Delaney arrives at the Exiles from Championship side Nottingham where he held the position of director of rugby for the past seven years. He has previously turned out for London Irish back during his playing days and was a part of their 2002 Powergen Cup-winning side.

London Irish underwent a huge coaching clearout at the end of the season with Toby Booth, Mike Catt, Justin Bishop and Neal Hatley all leaving. Delaney will work alongside director of rugby Brian Smith and new defence coach Shaun Edwards and Smith is delighted to have secured his man.

"He is a former London Irish player who is well aware of the values and traditions of the club," Smith said. "He was also a part of the triumphant Powergen Cup winning side in 2002 so he can pass his experiences onto the new London Irish squad who are keen to replicate Glenn's generation's success."
