The two Irish rugby players at the centre of the reported threesome have been advised to stay out of the media spotlight, according to reports in the Irish press.

The news of the alleged ménage à trois broke on social networking sites. The players have been told to keep a low profile but the Irish Independent reports that one was seen at a recent race meeting.

"The whole situation paints a pretty bad picture and definitely damages the clean-cut reputation these sports stars have in Ireland," a source told the Irish Independent. "The boys have been warned to keep a low profile until the whole thing dies down. They could lose sponsorship deals and it could jeopardise any other commercial deals for them in the future as well.

"And it's not just them either, even their team-mates have been told to batten down the hatches and not to speak to anybody about the incident, for fear of attracting more attention."
