Munster and Ireland have been rocked by the news Peter O'Mahony needs reconstructive shoulder surgery.

O'Mahony was forced off in the first-half of Munster's Heineken Cup quarter-final win over Toulouse and following a visit to the specialist, he will now be out for the rest of the season as he needs surgery on his left shoulder.

CJ Stander replaced O'Mahony and ended up being named Man of the Match and so he may continue in the pack in O'Mahony's place.

The news is also likely to have ramifications at international level as O'Mahony would have been part of the Ireland squad for their tour to Argentina. Iain Henderson could step up as O'Mahony's replacement at blindside.
