Ireland has announced a re-structure of women's coaching at representative level and appointed three new full-time members of staff.

The Irish Women's team have enjoyed considerable success in recent years, winning a Grand Slam in 2013 and reaching the last four in the Women's World Cup earlier this year.

Anthony Eddy, who has coached at Brumbies and Worcester Warriors, has been appointed Director of Sevens and Women's Rugby and will take on a coaching role with the Women's and Men's Sevens squads whilst overseeing the Women's XV programme.

Former Ireland international Tom Tierney is the new head coach of the Ireland Women's team and is assistant coach of the Sevens team, while Martin Earls moves from Connacht's Academy to take the role of Head of Strength and Conditioning for Sevens and Women's Rugby .

"A review of the existing Women's rugby representative structures revealed a need for greater integration of both the 15-a-side and Sevens programmes from both a coaching and player support perspective," said David Nucifora, IRFU Performance Director.

"We believe we have put in place a strong coaching unit and the appropriate support structures that will enable both versions of the game to drive on in tandem. The establishment of three full-time positions signifies the IRFU's commitment to creating a high performance environment for Irish representative Women's rugby."
