Six Nations champions Ireland will travel to South Africa for a three-Test summer tour in June next year.

Joe Schmidt's side will face the Rugby World Cup bronze medallists over three consecutive weekends starting on June 11 in Cape Town.

A week later they play the Springboks in Johannesburg before concluding the series in Port Elizabeth on June 25.

Ireland have never won a Test match in South Africa and the 2016 tour will mark their first visit since 2004, when the hosts won the series 2-0.

The South African Rugby Union also confirmed the rest of the Boks' home fixtures for 2016 on Friday.

Heyneke Meyer's team will host Argentina in Nelspruit in the opening round of the Rugby Championship on August 20, with further tournament matches against Australia in Pretoria on October 1 and New Zealand in Durban on October 8.

The All Blacks, recently crowned back-to-back Rugby World Cup champions, will venture from Johannesburg for the first time since 2011.
