Wales shade Scotland in Six Nations epic

The second weekend of this year's Six Nations has come and gone -- but who was the best player on show?

Our reporters at each of the three matches have nominated their contenders for Player of the Week. Vote for your pick of the six, and if you disagree with the nominations, leave a comment to put forward your own selection.

Maxime Medard (France)

Impressed with a big catch off the Ireland high-ball tactic, before showing prowess and awareness to cross the line for the only try of the match. -- Rob Bartlett in Paris

Jack McGrath (Ireland)

Dominated the scrum for the entire first half and kept French props Jefferson Poirot and Uini Atonio largely at bay. Didn't deserve to lose. -- RB

Jamie Roberts (Wales)

Came up with the goods when Wales needed him most. Another committed performance in defence and helped turn the game with a powerful try that would have needed two defences to stop. -- Martyn Thomas in Cardiff

Tommy Seymour (Scotland)

One of many players in dark blue unfortunate to finish on the losing team. Seymour was head and shoulders above every player on the pitch in the first half. Solid under the high ball and capped a fine performance with an expertly-taken try. -- MT

George Kruis (England)

Kruis has emerged as England's dominant second-row and his stock was further enhanced with an all-court performance in Rome. Though the lineout struggled at stages, Kruis' presence in the pack was essential in helping England gain dominance in that area and he put in a huge amount of work, making 11 tackles. -- Tom Hamilton in Rome

Jonathan Joseph (England)

Rarely are you in the right place at the right time in rugby without an awareness for what may happen a phase or two on. Joseph grabbed a hat-trick for England in Rome and showed encouraging signs in the second half of being back to the level he was at last year. It could be the performance that will see him push on over the coming weeks. -- TH
