Murphy returns to Ireland reckoning
May 23, 2001

Heineken Cup-winning wing Geordan Murphy is back in the Ireland squad after a six-month absence for the friendly in Romania next week.

Murphy's last cap was as a try-scorer in the 78-9 win over Japan at Lansdowne Road last November, after which he was dropped to the A team who faced the Springboks, and stayed there for Ireland's shortened Six Nations Championship campaign.

A team from the squad of 24, missing Ireland's six Lions, will be announced at Greystones Rugby Club next Tuesday ahead of the match in Bucharest on 2 June (kick-off 2pm local, 12pm in Ireland).

It will be Ireland's first international since 17 February, after the postponement of the matches against Wales, England and Scotland.
