Wallaby signs for Leinster

Australian international fly-half Nathan Spooner will join Irish province Leinster in July.

The 26-year-old has played twice for Australia, both against Ireland on their 1999 tour, and will leave Queensland Reds when his contract comes to an end in June.

A top class goalkicker, Spooner takes up a vacancy left when Leinster's negotiations with Springbok No 10 Louis Koen broke down.

Spooner follows New South Wales' Irish-born flanker Keith Gleeson, a former Australian Under 21 cap, to Leinster.

The Dublin-based province have recently signed Lions prop Paul Wallace from Saracens, in addition to Ben Willis, a scrum-half from New Zealand with an Irish passport.
