Taylor ready to roar back
August 16, 2001

New Lion Simon Taylor will make his return to competitive action for Edinburgh Gunners in the Celtic League opener on Friday evening.

Taylor was forced to withdraw from the Lions tour after just one appearance with a knee injury.

But the number eight has worked hard to achieve his aim of being ready for the first competitive game of the season against Munster at Myreside.

New signing Gavin Whittingham will make his debut against the Irish side and Marcus Di Rollo makes his first competitive appearance since his Scotland debut against the Barbarians in May.

Edinburgh chief executive Nick Oswald has urged supporters to arrive early for the game.

``There is a big interest in this match with around 4,000 tickets issued already,'' said Oswald. ``The Scottish rugby public traditionally arrives late for matches and I would urge everyone to arrive early to ensure they are in the ground for the 7.30pm kick off.''
